The spirit of Hiroshima’s cherry blossom season is one of peace, remembrance, and renewal—a celebration of life’s fragility and beauty. As pink petals drift across rivers once marked by tragedy, the city becomes a living symbol of hope reborn. Walking beneath the blossoms in Peace Memorial Park, you can feel the harmony between nature and human resilience, where every tree stands as a quiet testament to recovery and peace. At Hiroshima Castle, the soft glow of illuminated sakura reflects on centuries-old moats, blending history with gentle optimism. Meanwhile, Shukkeien Garden and Hijiyama Park remind visitors of the city’s deep connection to art, contemplation, and everyday joy. Beyond the mainland, Miyajima’s floating torii gate framed by 1,900 blooming trees captures the sacred essence of Japan’s spring, where land, sea, and sky unite in poetic tranquility. Together, these experiences embody Hiroshima’s unique balance—a place where remembrance transforms into renewal, and the fleeting beauty of sakura becomes a lasting symbol of peace.

Each spring, Hiroshima transforms into a city of blossoms and renewal, where pink petals frame symbols of peace and resilience. From late March to early April, visitors can enjoy some of Japan’s most serene and meaningful hanami spots.

More than 300 cherry trees bloom around the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Motoyasu River, creating a poignant scene that contrasts the delicate beauty of nature with the city’s message of peace. The riverside paths are perfect for reflective walks beneath falling petals.

Known as the “Carp Castle,” Hiroshima Castle is surrounded by over 450 cherry trees along its moats and stone walls. The blossoms reflect beautifully on the water, especially during the nighttime illuminations, when the castle’s wooden keep glows amid soft pink light.

A masterpiece of Edo-period landscaping, Shukkeien Garden offers a tranquil escape with cherry trees, tea houses, bridges, and ponds arranged in miniature scenic harmony. It’s an ideal spot for a quiet stroll, traditional tea ceremony, or elegant spring photography.

A short ferry ride from Hiroshima, Miyajima offers one of Japan’s most iconic cherry blossom settings. Around 1,900 cherry trees bloom around the floating Itsukushima Shrine and the famous torii gate rising from the sea, creating an ethereal spring landscape unlike anywhere else in Japan.
